Fest
What do you do when the entire world shuts down?? How do you keep in touch with humanity and genuinely support and educate it during a pandemic? How do you vitally maintain your humanity, how do you preserve cultural and share it in these moments? Especially if you can't be in contact with it?? What the hell do you also do when you are a nonprofit cultural collective who has had to cancel solidarity screenings in 7 countries on 2 continents and postpone the delivery of a mini-cinema near the Lebanese-Syrian border?

Well, this was our answer.

The Locked In Film Festival (presented by Copenhagen Underground) is an unorthodox, hybrid, independent, international short film festival taking place in person to a healthy audience who has recently been quarantined. The in-person event will also stream online for the rest of the world to take part in. We will be coming to you live from Copenhagen, Denmark at the end of March. The event will feature skype conversations with participating filmmakers, discussions with Danish film experts, interactive games everyone can join in on from anywhere, prizes, musical performances and more! The announcements will be made on Copenhagen Underground's facebook page in the coming days.

The festival is free to submit to via FilmFreeway as well as to attend and stream. We will however ask physically and digitally for donations to support Copenhagen Underground's "Lumen Union" initiative-- which takes donations to purchase projectors, gaming consoles, laptops and speakers and delivers them to centers for refugees in an effort to create safe cinematic & media spaces for children and adults in dire situations.

We are supporting Salam LADC in Bekaa Valley, Lebanon with a projector and Xbox One and will make the delivery to them when the pandemic dies down. We are also supporting our friends in The Flying Seagull Project in Samos and Yoga & Sport For Refugees in Lesvos with projectors, projection screens and gaming consoles, which the donations will go toward. We have no plans to let something like a pandemic stop our efforts to provide practical solidarity to those who need it most.
